How can I retain SILAW for my Business Law needs?

It always starts with a meeting, in person or remote, where we will have a chance to discuss your needs and problems to see whether we are the right fit for your specific needs. What can I expect from the Complimentary Consultation Session?

The complimentary consultation session is a half-hour meeting with one of our lawyers to preliminarily discuss your needs and decide whether we are a good fit for each other. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that we can actually help you achieve your goals and it is not to address all of your concerns and questions.

There is no obligation on you and no obligation on us to continue our relationship and the complimentary consultation session will not, on its own, form a lawyer-client relationship between you and our firm.

How can I best prepare for the complimentary consultation session?

This session is only 30 minutes long so its best if you prepare in advance to get the most out of it. Make a note of your issues and be ready to talk about them in a clear and logical order. Also consider your expectations and make sure you do raise them.

What type of Fee Arrangement can I expect from SILAW?

In general we have two types of fee arrangements at SILAW:

  • Hourly Rate: In this arrangement we will charge you for each hour (or portion of an hour) that we work on your case. The rate will be specified in your Retainer Agreement.
  • Flat Fee: In this arrangement we will charge you a single fixed fee for services that we specify in your Retainer Agreement. This fixed fee is independent of the actual hours we work to render you the services we specify in the Retainer Agreement.

In the interest of predictability and transparency we always consider offering our clients a Flat Fee arrangement. This usually happens for simpler cases where we can anticipate the amount of work required, but for more complex cases where there are many variables and complications, we resort to hourly rate. Even in these cases we will provide you with our best assessment on the work required.
